Electric motorbike breaks the 150MPH barrier

A San Francisco company said that its Mission One electric superbike reached 150 MPH in two passes at the Bonneville Speedway.

But before it breached the record, it managed to achieve 161MPH, the manufacturers claim.

Jeremy Cleland, test rider and product manager at Mission Motors said: “It pulls hard all the way from 0 on up to 161MPH, all in one gear, with incredible torque. This is not a one off race vehicle, this is a production prototype. It is the same bike that we raced at the Isle of Man.”

Mission Motors will sell 300 Mission one electric motorcyles in 2010, the company said. It has a range of 150 miles, and rivals gas powered machines, said the firm.
