Darter UltraThin is a $900 Ubuntu touchscreen notebook

System76 is currently accepting pre-orders for the Darter UltraThin, a 14-inch notebook pre-loaded with Ubuntu 13.10 (64-bit).

According to Liliputing, the Linux-powered device is equipped with a full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) glossy touchscreen display, an Intel Haswell processor, a starting price of $900 (scaling up based on specs) and an October 28th shipping date.

The 4.6 pound base model features a 1920 x 1080 pixel glossy touchscreen display, an Intel Core i5-4200U processor with Intel HD 4400 graphics, a 500GB hard drive, 4GB of RAM, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth and a 5 hour battery life.

Additional specs include two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and Ethernet jacks, an SD card reader, a 1MP webcam, along with mic and headphone jacks.

As noted above, specs are scaleable, with various laptop configuration options such as a Core i7-4500U chip, up to 16GB of RAM and 120GB-1TB of solid state storage (SSD).
