Like the idea of a tablet you can take with you on the road for accessing Windows apps but don’t care for Microsoft’s Surface Pro?
Well, you might be want to check out the Asus Transformer Book which is now available for pre-order. However, be warned that this device is far from cheap – as the pre-order price tag currently stands at a cool $1479.99.
Essentially, Tthe Transformer Book is a Windows 8 tablet designed to be paired with a keyboard docking station which allows for longer run time and more comfortable typing on the road. The device boasts some pretty sweet hardware specs indeed, including a 13.3-inch screen, an Intel Core i7-3517U processor, 4 GB of RAM and a 128 GB SSD.
Other than expanding the battery life, the keyboard dock that comes with the tablet is also fitted with its own 500 GB hard drive, giving the Transformer Book 628 GB of total storage space. Of course, the tablet section also has its own microSD card slot for storage expansion.
One of the best things about owning a Windows 8 tablet is that you can use all the same software you are familiar with from the office, which you can’t do with tablets running Android or Windows RT.
The downside? The device is considerably more expensive than Microsoft’s own Surface Pro, which can be snapped up for $999 with 128GB of storage. Still If the Asus keyboard dock and extra storage is worth the approximately $480 extra cost, the Transformer Book might be the perfect choice for you.
