Google may be prepping an upgraded version of its wildly popular Nexus 7 tablet, which could feature a higher-resolution screen set at 1080p (1728×1080-,1920×1080), while preserving the coveted $199 price point.
According to Digitimes, Google and Asus may also decide to slim down the bezel around the screen, which could help facilitate an aspect ratio change.

Additional upgrades are likely to include the latest version of Google’s upgraded Jelly Bean-based Android operating system in an effort to “enhance integration between the software and the hardware.”
And although the Digitimes report doesn’t mention it, a memory upgrade certainly isn’t out of the question.
Sales of the Nexus 7 currently apparently remain on track, with shipments of the tablet expected to exceed 6 million units by the end of January. Unsurprisingly, the $249 model appears to be the most popular iteration thus far.
While a release date for the rumored tablet has yet to be confirmed, numerous reports indicate claim the upgraded Nexus 7 is likely to be announced during Google I/O early this summer.
Google’s Nexus 7 is currently available in two primary configurations: 16GB WiFi for $199 and 32GB WiFi for $249. Of course, there is also the 32GB HSPA+ (T-Mobile and AT&T) for a cool $300.
