Paddle boarding – How to Stand on the Board?

Paddle boarding is a relatively new craze that many people are excited about trying. While most popular sports and physical activities take place on solid ground, the new wave of Paddle boarding enthusiast might be an opportunity for more people to make friends with the idea of water sports and the ocean in general. Those that want to try out this activity but don’t know where to begin have landed in the right place. First off, you’ll need to look into some stand up paddle boards and choose the one you like. Once you got your board and your water, it’s time to get started.

  • The first you need to do is put the board in shallow water with the fin side down into the water. Take your position on either side of the board.
  • Now place the paddle horizontally on the board. This should be done so the blade of the paddle is touching the water on the other side of the board, or in other words on the side opposite of the side you’re on. This would put the handle o the paddle right next to you.
  • Now it’s time to firmly grip the board and prepare to mount it. This is done by using your exterior-side arm to grip both the paddle and the board. The other hand reaches over to the other side of the board.
  • With your hands firmly gripping the board on each side, lift one of your knees and bring the board closer to you. When the board is close enough, put your knee around the center area of the board. Next just shift your weight and bring the other leg on the board.
  • Now that you’re on the board, start paddling from the knee position and check both the front and rear end of the board. If either end is coming out of the water, it meant there’s not enough weight on that side so you will want to move a little bit in that direction.
  • Once the board lies flat, you know that you have found balance and can begin standing up. The hard part is done and now you can enjoy Paddle boarding in deeper water (at least deeper than knee level). Remember to take it easy at first and give your body the time it needs to adjust to the new experience.

Paddle boarding is not yet known as a worldwide sports fan favorite, but it is slowly gaining traction and a lot of people are curious to see what the fuss is about. The benefits of Paddle boarding don’t come necessarily in the form of a workout but as an activity that can help you clear you thoughts and gain peace.
