Xbox 360 owners will be able to have an exclusive stream of Clear Channel’s upcoming iHeartRadio festival.
Clear Channel, which operates many of the major radio stations throughout the country, is going all out this weekend with two nonstop days of concerts from such superstars as Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Coldplay, The Black Eyed Peas, Kenny Chesney, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler.
Tickets to the massive music festival were sold out within minutes after being made available in July. Until now, the only way to get access was to win a radio contest.
Now, though, it’s been revealed that users will be able to stream live HD video from the two-day event this weekend.
“The high-definition streaming of this concert is part of our commitment to bring consumers the entertainment they want, shared with the people they care about, made easy,” said Xbox Live VP Tom Gibbons in a statement.
The content will be promoted on the Xbox Live dashboard, encouraging anyone who signs on to the service this weekend to catch some free live music.
This is the latest in Microsoft’s push to offer live video content through the console. At E3 earlier this year, the Xbox 360 streamed live TV content from Spike TV.
The company has also announced plans to start offering more live TV, essentially turning the home console into a virtual cable box. That feature is set to roll out by the end of the year.
