At the last minute, someone has finally managed to pop the lid on Microsoft’s E3 secrets.
The company is set to hold its annual pre-E3 media briefing in just a matter of hours, and up until this point we’ve heard almost no rumblings about what it plans to talk about.
USA Today, however, was able to unearth information that during the briefing, Microsoft is likely to unveil at least two new titles for the Kinect motion camera accessory – Fruit Ninja and Disneyland Adventures.
The former was originally released on the iPhone and has become one of the best-selling games on iTunes. The latter will cement a rumored new partnership between Microsoft and Disney, and will allows players to roam around a virtual version of the company’s California theme park.
While both are expected to be introduced at this morning’s event, it’s hardly the blockbuster announcement most gamers are waiting for. Last year, the company devoted almost the entire two-hour-long showcase to Kinect. And almost all were simplistic, casual games.
Xbox fans are clamoring for something new and different. Another rumor that surfaced yesterday was that Microsoft is planning to launch its own TV service through the Xbox 360, which would enable users to watch live TV directly through their console without the need to switch their TV to the cable box.
One other rumor, which by all accounts would be a long shot, is that Microsoft is ready to unveil its Xbox 360 successor today. However, that seems unlikely, even though the console has already been out for five and a half years.
Regardless, all this speculation will come to an end later this morning, as Microsoft will be holding its media spectacle at 9:00 AM Pacific Time (12:00 Noon Eastern Time). TG Daily will be there live to provide the most up-to-the-minute coverage.
