The Endtables Reunite for First Show in 30 Years at SXSW [Unplugging]

Time to check in with the world of music with the good people at mxdwn.com. This week’s column feature news about two exciting additions to the 2011 SXSW music festival.

March is quickly approaching, which means only one thing: SXSW 2011. Austin, Texas will be transforming into America’s best film and music headquarters for nine full days.  Dozens of stages shuffle all kinds of musical performances all day and night with multiple film screenings, guest speakers, and a variety of additional entertainment. For the first time in 30 years, The Endtables will be reuniting at SXSW 2011. The psychedelic punk rockers from Kentucky were a sensation in the 70s, only rereleasing some music in 2010 and nothing more. Not only will The Endtables be reuniting at SXSW, but Bright Eyes will also be making a stop at this year’s festival in support of their new album, The People’s Key. Bright Eyes will close out the set on the Auditorium Shores Stage in their first appearance at SXSW since 2000.

The Pain of Being Pure at Heart has announced spring tour dates in support of their forthcoming album, Belong. Also, check out two singles from the new album, “Heart In Your Heartbreak” and “The One”, by following the link below. Still need more live music in your life? For the entire month of July, the Roundhouse in central London will see more than 60 artists perform live, thanks to the return of the iTunes Festival. Linkin Park, Duran Duran, and Rumer are the first three artists to be confirmed. Also, The Ecstatic Music Festival will run from January 17- March 28 at the Merkin Concert Hall in New York. The numerous performances will feature over 150 diverse musical artists.

Finally, Brent Knopf of Menomena has left the band to work on his side project, Ramona Falls, according to their website. Paul Acott will replace Knopf for the remainder of their tour dates, including a stint at Coachella and a full North American tour throughout March 2011. The band writes, “We want to thank Brent for his vast contributions over the years and wish him nothing but happiness in all of his future endeavors.”
