SXSW 2011 Performing Artists Lineup Announced + more [Unplugging]

It’s time to check in on the world of music with this week’s Unplugging column. This week we have news on the early announcement of SXSW 2011’s artist lineup and much more!

Finally, the SXSW 2011 artist lineup has been announced for the huge music festival held in Austin, TX every spring. This year is particularly special because it marks the 25th anniversary of SXSW Music, even more of a reason to come out and celebrate. The lineup is huge (and still growing) and features bands from all over the world. Follow the link below to check out the current lineup.

Is Kid Cudi really done rapping? According to an exclusive interview with MTV, this news is true. Kid Cudi has announced his debut into the rock music scene with the creation of his new band, Wizard. Seeing is believing, so follow the link to watch the interview and see for yourself.

New music announcements this week include deadmau5 and G Love. The new electronic music sensation, deadmau5, will be releasing his album, 4×4=12, December 5th. Lots of new details about the album have just been released, including album art and track listing. Also, G Love has announced the release of his next album, Fixin’ to Die, out February 22. G Love and the Avett Brothers teamed up for this one  – the Avett Brothers both produced and performed on the record.

Both Lindstrom and Social Distortion announced tour dates this week. Lindstrom, a Norwegian group who rarely comes to the states, has announced three special shows in New York, San Francisco, and Chicago. Also, Social Distortion has announced a West Coast tour beginning early next year to support the release of their new album, Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes.

SXSW 2011 Artists Announced: Taking place March 16-20 and featuring over 1900 acts on stages, the lineup for SXSW 2011 has been announced. This year marks the 25th anniversary of SXSW Music, making it even more of a reason to celebrate. Lindstrom Announces US Shows, Remixed by Four Tet, and Featured in Cadillac Commercial: Norwegian group Lindstrom has announced three special show in the States, something that is a rarity.
