Strung out Starcraft 2 junkies who just can’t stop playing Blizzard’s addictive strategy game can now breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Because in September 2010, even the most hard-core Starcraft 2 player can bite the mobile bullet and remotely control the title from an Apple iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.
The $3 Gameboard app is expected to boast a number of essential features, including mini-map control, detailed unit statistics and easy touch access to important hotkeys and macros.
In addition, the Gameboard will be fully compatible with Battle.net, as it apparently employs a system that does not modify “any essential” Starcraft 2 functions.
However, the app currently only works with copies of Starcraft 2 running on Microsoft Windows XP, Vista and 7.
Nevertheless, a Mac version could theoretically be developed at a later date if there is sufficient interest.
So, what is the Gameboard good for?
Well, Kotaku’s Luke Plunkett believes that app is “completely useless” in terms of real performance, but could still be a “neat trick” for parties.
“[It] may even come in handy if you’re stuck on the can a little longer than expected and your build order needs a refresh,” he opined.
“[Still], in addition to the ability to control nearly everything in the game – the app synchs with a program you have to download to your PC, so it’s basically a glorified control pad.”
