Anyone who lived through the 90s knows the current decade sucks. Forget about current events, let’s just talk about the music, or lack thereof.
On second thought, I won’t even waste my time ranting about so-called vocalists/performers like Justin Bieber and the new crap streaming across Internet, FM and satellite stations.
Hell, it seems as if even MTV and VH1 have given up, as both channels insist on playing horrific “reality” shows in an endless loop of mindless stupidity.
But I know a place where there is no war in Afghanistan, the Twin Towers are still standing and the TSA doesn’t exist.
Yes, the 1990s, when grunge and alternative ruled our righteous airwaves and Generation X looked forward to a future that was just good enough.
Although I have yet to come across a really kick-ass documentary about my favorite decade, Cameron Crowe and Eddie Vedder are stepping up to the alterna-grunge-flannel plate with “Pearl Jam Twenty.”
Yes, the trailer just debuted, so get ready to listen to that Seattle sound we all know and love, because director Crowe was apparently given 1,200 hours of footage the band kept over the years.
“It’s the best souvenirs of the past,” Crowe told Rolling Stone.
“Some fabled footage you’ve heard exists but have never seen, and some interviews.”
Hell, yeah!
While the documentary is obviously about Pearl Jam, I’m kind of hoping it’ll include some footage of other cool bands like Mudhoney, Nirvana, Tad, Primus and Alice in Chains.
“Pearl Jam 20” is slated to premiere September 10 at the Toronto Film Festival and will open on September 20 across the U.S.
