LucasArts is showcasing a limited edition Xbox 360 Star Wars console at Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego, California.
The system features a Star Wars theme and custom sounds (power on and tray eject) inspired by everyone’s favorite droid R2-D2, along with other “bundled” goodies, including:
- White Kinect
- Kinect Star Wars game
- C-3PO-themed wireless controller
- 320 GB Hard Drive
- Xbox 360 Wired Headset
- Kinect Adventures game
The limited edition console and accompanying bundle are set to debut alongside Kinect Star Wars this holiday. However, it is currently available for pre-order from various online retailers at $450.
Now, I’ve certainly had my doubts about Kinect being used (successfully) for core games, but check out the video below to see some awesome Kinect Star Wars action.
If you don’t like what you see, that’s fine, but just remember, the current Kinect is only Microsoft’s first iteration of the platform. It isn’t perfect, and future versions of Kinect are likely to be even more sophisticated, but it is certainly making gamers happy right now, today.
Besides, I’ve always wanted to fight the good fight against the Empire, well, ever since I was about 8 years old.
Old games like Dark Forces and the Force Unleashed were certainly cool and all, but this Kinect-friendly title puts you one step closer to being a real Jedi. And we all know you can’t get better than that!
