German developer is reviving the Dreamcast

Redspot Games may just be the coolest game developer ever. That’s because it is in the process of creating a brand new title for the Sega Dreamcast, a console that officially died almost a decade ago.

As revealed on the German TV show 3Sat, Redspot Games is working on a brand new Dreamcast game called Sturmwind.

The Dreamcast was officially discontinued in 2001, but many Sega fans believe it was never given a fair shake, and as such it still sits in the entertainment centers of players all around the world. At least, that’s what some people, including Redspot, would like to believe.

This isn’t just some fun little side project to prove a Dreamcast game can still be made. It’s a massive, fully-developed adventure with 16 levels, 20 bosses, three difficulty levels, and VMU support.

It’s region free and works on any MIL-CD compatible Dreamcast system.

The game is available now for pre-order, at RedspotGames.com. It sells for 34.95 euros, or around $46.
