EA declares end to Tiberium wars with C&C 4

San Francisco (CA) – Electronic Arts has confirmed that its popular Tiberium-war series will be brought to an “epic conclusion” with Command & Conquer 4. According to EA, C&C 4  introduces a “multitude of innovations” while retaining the “core compulsions that fans have come to love.”

C&C 4 – which takes place in 2062 – find humanity on the brink of extinction as Tiberium renders the earth almost entirely uninhabitable. Meanwhile, the Global Defense Initiative (GDI) and the Brotherhood of Nod are forced to work towards the same goal: to stop Tiberium from extinguishing mankind.

“Command & Conquer is a powerful franchise with an amazing 15-year legacy. We are thrilled to bring the dramatic Tiberium saga to a conclusion in Command & Conquer 4. This game is designed to give fans all the answers they’ve been looking for,” said Mike Glosecki, Lead Producer of Command & Conquer 4 at EA Los Angeles. “With its objective-based multiplayer mode, persistent player progression and all-in-one mobile base, players will experience Command & Conquer like never before.”

Glosecki added that C&C 4 will feature two campaigns based on the epic battles between GDI and Nod as well as a new 5v5 objective-based multiplayer mode.

Command & Conquer 4 is expected to ship in 2010 for the PC. However, it is unclear if C&C 4 will be ported to other platforms, such as the Xbox, PS3 and Wii.
