After waiting 15 years for the release of Duke Nukem Forever, fans of the series are now gonna have to wait a bit more…
“2K Games Announces Shortest Delay in the History of Duke Nukem Forever,” the publisher declared in the title of a press release issued today.
The release notes that DKF will miss its targeted “May” launch window and is now slated for June 14 in the US.
This delay of course comes after the game was pushed back for one and a half decades. Originally announced in the mid-1990s, the project was all but abandoned due to shake-ups in the business and technological sides of the industry.
However, there was never an official cancellation, and every year or two whoever happened to own the rights to the game would tease the gaming public that Duke Nukem Forever was still being worked on in a back room somewhere.
After 15 years, many had just assumed it would never see the light of day. Then 2K Games stepped up and, to the delight and humor of everyone, said the game would be coming out in May.
“We thank Duke’s fans for their continued patience – I promise this won’t take another 15 years,” 2K said.
