Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski is convinced even Nintendo haters will buy the Wii U.
If you ask me, I’m honestly not at all sure why a Sony or MS fanboi would realistically shell out a wad of hard-earned cash to buy a new console that seems like a last-gen system.
I’m also uncertain as to what the Wii U’s appeal is. Plus we all know the tablet-controller won’t exactly be an easy marketing slam dunk for Nintendo.
But here’s what Bleszinski has to say about it.
“From what I’ve seen, [the Wii U] looks pretty cool. It seems like you can stream your game from your television directly to your [tablet] controller, so if you have irritable bowel syndrome, or a small bladder, you can still play it in the toilet,” Bleszinski told IndustryGamers.
“That’s great. But, you know, from what people are saying online, they’re like, ‘Oh, it’s just a DreamCast, whatever.’ But it’s like, ‘Dude, what’s old is new sometimes.'”
Umm, yeah.
Bathroom gaming with Wii U? Now there’s a marketing angle Nintendo should take note of!
But obviously Bleszinski is on, er, quite a roll, so I’ll let you get back into it.
“The Power Glove [back on NES] led to the Wii, right? The Virtual Boy led to the 3DS, right? A lot of these older technologies that you forget about are [the technological predecessors],” he continued.
“The Kinect is a sophisticated webcam, right? So I’m just dying to see it. It’s Nintendo. I’ll buy it. I know I’ll buy it. [Sure, the haters will] talk sh*t but [in the end], they’ll buy it.”
So there you have it folks, Bleszinski at his very finest. Well, at least we all know where the Wii U is headed if the system doesn’t make it into the living room.
