As I write this piece, I am wriggling my rear to some funky new beats delivered by the Beastie Boys.
The music industry veterans are set to officially release their eighth studio album – Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 – on May 3, 2011.
However, it seems that the “clean” version of their album has been leaked online, according to the group’s official Facebook page.
In response, Ad-Rock, Mike D and MCA have decided to stream the so-called full “dirty” version for free on their website.
Say the Boys: “Good people, unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control, the ‘clean’ version of our new album, The Hot Sauce Committee pt 2 has leaked.
“So as a hostile and retaliatory measure with great hubris we are making the full explicit aka filthy dirty nasty version available for streaming on our new site. We hope this brings much happiness, hugs, and harmony. Enjoy Kikoos for life! Thank you, the Management.”
Per Death + Taxes magazine, “the guys also debuted the entire new album via a boom box in the middle of Madison Square Garden over the weekend.”
What a welcome change from the bellicose posturing and knee-jerk Luddite whining typical of richer-than-god pop musicians whose work has leaked online.
With strategically placed pre-order links at the bottom of the site, I just might buy the album.
