If you’ve ever contributed to a Kickstarter campaign, you usually get something in return for your help, whether it’s a t-shirt, or some other goodies. Now that the Veronica Mars movie is about to premiere, the fans who helped bring it to life are going to see some reward out of it besides the satisfaction of helping resurrect the show.
The Hollywood Reporter tells us the movie will debut at the South by Southwest festival on March 8, and 151 people who donated between $750 to $1,000 will come to Austin to see a screening of the film. 250 fans will also see a screening with Kristen Bell and writer / director Rob Thomas in New York and L.A.
As for the over 90,000 fans who also contributed, they got t-shirts, autographed posters, DVDs, and screenplays for their help. Thomas told the Reporter he’s definitely looking forward to meeting the fans who helped bring Mars back to life.
“The most face-to-face time we’ve had so far in all of this was with the backers who were extras, and that’s a pretty select crew.” Now Thomas and Bell will be meeting the investors of their movie as their reward for their help, except here the investors aren’t stuffy investment bankers, but the true fans who voted with their hard earned money, and are about to see the fruits of their labor.
Veronica Mars will be in 270 theaters on March 14, the same day you can also watch on VOD, which may be the future for a lot of movies, meaning you can possibly see them on the big screen and stream them the same day.
