It’s hard to imagine any movie costing as much as Avatar, which at one point was the most expensive movie ever made. There have been some intriguing rumors as to how much Avatar actually could have cost, but the official number is $237 million.
Now The Hollywood Reporter tells us, there’s a report that claims that X-Men Days of Future Past could actually be Fox’s second most expensive film. This claim was made in the Calgary Herald which reports that X-Men had to return to Montreal for reshoots. Yet even with reshoots, it’s hard to imagine the next X-Men movie coming anywhere near Avatar’s budget.
We also didn’t get the memo that Avatar’s budget has apparently already been surpassed by John Carter ($250 million), Spider-Man 3 ($258 million), and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, which apparently cost a whopping $300 million.
So this report could be inaccurate, but if X-Men: Days of Future Past is indeed breaking the bank, we hope it will all show up on the screen. We have high hopes for the next X-Men film because Bryan Singer is back directing, and a lot of the original X-Men gang will be back as well. Here’s hoping this will give X-Men a new lease on life when Days of Future Past is released on May 23, 2014.
