We recently reported on TGD that a lot of stories are getting sequels and prequels through graphic novels, and Serenity / Firefly is one of them. It will be quite some time if we ever get a resurrection of Joss Whedon’s beloved space opera, but this graphic novel could definitely keep fans satisfied for a while.
Giant Freakin Robot reports that the Serenity graphic novel is entitled Serenity: Leaves on the Wind, and it will pick up where the Serenity movie left off. The character of Zoe is about to give birth, and there’s a new crew member onboard as well.
The title refers to crazy nature of the story, and as Zack Whedon, Joss’s brother, said, “A leaf on the wind doesn’t have control over where it’s going and neither do they at this point. They’re sort of reacting to all these forces that are out of their control.”
George Jeanty, who did the art for Leaves on the Wind, told Bleeding Cool that he wanted to sit with the cast, which could have enhanced the work even more by connecting with the characters even further. Jeanty also gave the fans a nice tidbit too:
“I thought, especially when Joss was on it, this was something where if there was gonna be a film, he was working it out in comics first.” Could this lead to a big or small screen Firefly reunion? We won’t know any time soon, but look for Leaves on the Wind on January 29, 2014.
