Stan Lee Brings Us, Chakra, the First Indian Superhero

Some time back on TGD, we wrote about diversity in comic books, especially considering The Falcon, an African-American superhero, will be in the next Captain America film. We at TGD are all for diversity in superheroes, and we welcome the news that Stan Lee has announced the world’s first Indian superhero, Chakra: The Invincible.

As Variety tells us, Chakra will make his debut on Cartoon Network India on November 30. So who is Chakra? According to this report, he’s a kid from Mumbai named Raju, and a scientist named Dr. Singh creates a special suit that hypes up the chakras of your body, and gives you superpowers.

To be completely honest, I didn’t know what a chakra was, so for those who are chakra challenged, according to wiki the chakras are the points in your body that are the centers of your life force, according to far eastern beliefs.

With Stan Lee coming up on his 91st birthday this December 28, it’s great to see he’s still creating new characters, and he’ll also be holding his own comics convention, Comikaze, which is coming to L.A. this November. In addition, we’re happy to see that there will soon be more diversity in superheroes than ever, and we welcome heroes of all nationalities. As long as they’re on the side of good and will protect the world from evil, we’re all for it.
