X-Men Screenwriter Onboard For Fantastic Four Reboot

Other than Howard the Duck, what superhero series is in more desperate need of a reboot than The Fantastic Four? Even though the last two Superman incarnations weren’t that great, at least we had two great Superman movies in 1978 and 1981. There have been several attempts already, and we still don’t have a good Fantastic Four movie.

Of course there’s still hope, and Josh Trank, director of Chronicle, is onboard to try and salvage this beloved Marvel franchise. Hollywood Reporter also tells us that X-Men screenwriter Simon Kinberg just came aboard to write the script.

Kinberg has written the X-Men First Class and Last Stand movies, along with X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is currently shooting.

It would be great to finally see a Fantastic Four movie that delivers, just like they finally got the Hulk right, albeit as part of the Avengers ensemble. This script has gone through quite a few writers already, about five of them by our count, so let’s hope they get the right blueprint together before they start rebuilding a much stronger Fantastic Four.

Fantastic Four currently has a release date of March 16, 2015, which means if they can nail down the script, and get a cast together soon, it will come out the same year as Star Wars, Avengers 2, World of Warcraft, and Batman Vs Superman.
