Sony’s Playstation 4 isn’t limited like Microsoft’s Xbox One

During an E3 press conference yesterday, Sony confirmed that its upcoming $400 Playstation 4 console will not be limited by the same hobbling restrictions as Microsoft’s Xbox One.

First off, the PS4 will allow users to play pre-owned games, which they can then trade, lend or sell.

Plus, the PS4 does not require a live Internet connection for playing games (single-player) or to obtain online authentication once a day. As you may recall, Microsoft’s Xbox One demands an Internet connection once every 24 hours.

The Japanese-based company also released the following list of official  specs:

  • CPU: x86-64 AMD “Jaguar,” 8 cores
  • GPU: 1.84 TFLOPS, AMN next-generation Radeon based graphics engine
  • Memory: GDDR5 8GB
  • Storage size: 500GB hard disk drive*
  • External dimensions:
  • Approximately 275 x 53 x 305mm
  • Mass: Approx 2.8kg
  • BD/DVD drive (read only): BD x 6 CAV, DVD x 8 CAV
