I often joke that the internet is a peerless source of accurate information because in many cases, it’s really anything goes.
Maybe what you’re reading is the truth, maybe it’s complete nonsense, but in many cases it’s all going out into the world unchecked and unfiltered, and it’s anybody’s guess if it’s the truth, or if it’s coming from a reputable source.
Smart geeks, like ourselves and the loyal readers of TG, know to take what we find on the ‘Net with a grain of salt, and you especially have to keep this in mind when it comes to Star Wars. You know nothing official is going to leak on this film for aeons, and who knows if any of the current info on the upcoming JJ Abrams film is legit or not.
This said, Giant Freakin Robot just ran a story that may or may not reveal secrets for the next installment of Lucas’s classic space opera, so again, let the reader beware on all of this. This report first hit the net from the site Comic Book News, and this information of course comes from an unnamed source.
And of course, before you read a word of this, we will issue a SPOILER WARNING:
If any of the following is true, Episode VII is supposed to take place thirty years after Return of the Jedi, and the film is supposed to center around the children of Luke and Han. Luke is now Grand Master of The Jedi Order, and a follower of Emperor Palpatine wants to rebuild the Sith Armies of the Old Republic to rise up and destroy the Jedis. In order to stop this, the Skywalker and Solo kids will have to step up to the plate and defend good against evil.
One person who would probably know if any of this is true is Dale Pollock, who wrote the Lucas biography Skywalking. Some time ago, The Wrap reported that Pollock saw the treatments for the last three Star Wars films, and while he didn’t reveal plot details, he did say what he read over thirty years ago now was indeed good stuff.
As far as the original gang of Star Wars stars coming back, Harrison Ford was recently just asked about this, and as Entertainment Weekly tells us, he said, “I think it’s almost true. I’m looking forward to it. [It’s] not in the bag yet, but I think it’s happening.”
At least we can absolutely confirm for a fact that Ford said this. As for the rest of the current Star Wars rumors, your guess is as good as anybody else’s, but if the above storyline is true, it sounds like it could be an interesting premise to have the kids take over the family business.
