Bethesda’s relationship with the Playstation 3 (PS3) community has been fraught with difficulty over the past year, as Skyrim DLCs remain conspicuously absent from Sony’s flagship console.
“This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve,” Bethesda devs claimed earlier this year.
Fortunately, things may be looking up for PS3 owners, or so Bethesda execs implied with the following official tweet: “To update: we’re also close on new Skyrim content for PS3 and PC.”
Sadly, that is all there is to go on, at least for now. There is no indication if Bethesda is referring to previous Skyrim DLCs for the console like Dragonborn, or if it has managed to code something new just for the Playstation.
Still, the above-mentioned tweet is certainly good news, and heralds a definite change for the game studio which had almost seemed to write off Sony’s PS3, at least in terms of DLCs.
Due to various technical issues, the Dawnguard (May 1, 2012) and Hearthfire DLCs (September 4, 2012) failed to make an appearance on the PS3, while Dragonboard, slated initially for the Xbox 360, goes live on December 4.
One can only hope that Bethesda’s apparent difficulty with the PS3 doesn’t continue with Sony’s upcoming Playstation 4, but I guess we’ll all cross that bridge when we get to it.
