Netflix is one the most popular video streaming sites and applications for both PCs and mobile devices. As you probably already know, Netflix streaming is available for most current-gen Android smartphones. Plus, you can also use the platform stream to videos to your console like Sony’s PS3.
So if you happen to own both an Android smartphones and a PS3, you may be interested in learning about a sweet new Netflix feature that recently surfaced.
Remember, the Android Netflix application was recently redesigned with a new user interface (UI), and it seems another unannounced goodie was added as well. Yes, hidden inside the app is a feature that allows you to use your Android device as a remote control for Netflix on the PS3 via Wi-Fi.
Personally, I think this is a great feature because Netflix is about all I use my PS3 for these days, and it seems like my PS3 controllers are always dead. However, my Android smartphone typically has plenty of power.
It is probably worth noting that the Phandroid crew was unable to get this feature to work. However, as you can see in the video above, it appears at least one person has been able to enable it. So if you can get this to work on your Android device and PS3, be sure to let us know in the comments.
Instructions? Select a movie or show on your phone and it will return a prompt asking where you want to play the selected show/movie. Select PS3 and the phone then acts as a remote to fast forward, pause and change the audio or subtitles.
