Android-powered Eken B70 tablet has a $99 price tag

Tablet fans are always clamoring for a reasonably priced device with respectable specs. Indeed, most tablets in the low-to-medium price range run Google’s mobile Android OS, and that’s exactly what powers the Eken B70.

The tablet – which boasts a 7-inch screen (800 x 480) – runs Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) and is equipped with a 1.2 GHz Allwinner A10 ARM Cortex A8 processor.

As you may recall, the A8 chip is commonly used in uber-mini Android computers, and like its counterparts, the B70 won’t be breaking performance records anytime soon with its hardware.

Nevertheless, the B70 does boast a capacitive touchscreen along with 512 MB of RAM. Onboard storage is only 4 GB, but the tablet does offer a microSD card slot for storage expansion. Connectivity options include an HDMI output, a full-size USB port and a mini USB port.

And last, but certainly not least, the tablet is equipped with an integrated microphone and speaker – allowing users to play music, video, or make voice and video calls using Wi-Fi.

It’s worth noting that the $99 price tag is offered from Chinese retailer AliExpress. Should Eken decide to offer the tablet directly the US it could sell for even less than $99. This might be an excellent tablet option for kids, as it will also have full access to Google Play.

It’s interesting to note that the B70 tablet is only $25 more expensive than the MK802 PC on a stick, which is also sold by AliExpress. Frankly, I would expect the full tablet to have more of a significant price difference compared to a screenless mini-computer.
