Dishonored steampunk clip is flexible combat

Bethesda Softworks and Arkane Studios have posted a new clip for Dishonored, an upcoming steampunk-themed action RPG.

The latest Dishonored video showcases just a few of the ways players can eliminate their enemies using the game’s flexible combat system by creatively combining supernatural abilities with various weapons and gadgets, including self-induced friendly fire and the mobile rat bomb.

The previous trailer, which went live in July, allows players to experience how Corvo – the  dishonored supernatural protagonist – makes his escape from the mysterious Boyle Mansion. The video also confirmed three primary techniques the assassin is capable of employing: Blink, Bend Time and Possession.

The diesel-steampunk Dishonored casts the player as a supernatural assassin driven by revenge as he roams the dark city of Dunwall, which is besieged by plague and ruled by an oppressive government.

A once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress known as Corvo, you are framed for her murder and become an infamous assassin, identified only by the enigmatic mask that has become your calling card.

The long-awaited game was designed with the help of a number of industry heavyweights, including Harvey Smith (Deus Ex,  Thief: Deadly Shadow), Raphaël Colantonio (BioShock 2, Arx Fatalis) and Viktor Antonov (Half-Life 2).

Dishonored goes live in the US for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on October 9th, 2012.
