Ematic has rolled out a new Android tablet that makes Amazon’s Kindle Fire look insanely expensive. Yes, the eGlide 4 is a seven-inch tablet that runs Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
Certainly, the best feature of the tablet is the price: a cool $80.
Naturally, with that price point, you’re not going to get the most powerful hardware on the market. Still, the little device boasts some fairly sweet specs, including 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot.
The tablet is powered by a 1 GHz processor, and that memory card slot supports up to 32 GB of additional storage.
Other features for the cheap little tablet include an integrated voice recorder, Office Suite and a Kobo eReading app. The tablet can also be easily connected to a TV with miniHDMI out and supports 1080p HD video playback.
Those in the market for a cheap ICS Android tablet may also want to check out the 97 Carbon manufactured by Archos. This device sells for a cool $250 and boasts a 9.7-inch IPS multitouch screen with a resolution of 1024×768.
A number of apps are pre-installed on the 97 Carbon, such as Google Apps, with the tablet supporting over 600,000 apps and games available on the Google Play store. The 97 Carbon is powered by a 1 GHz ARM A8 Cortex processor, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal flash storage – which is expandable to 48GB (total) via microSD cards.
