After a lot of net speculation, the teaser trailer for Star Wars The Force Awakens is now everywhere. If you don’t see it at your local theater this weekend, it’s all over the net right now, and easily within reach.
While it’s pretty short, 88 seconds long, it shows far more than we thought it would, and it was especially surprising to see the Millennium Falcon flying around in the day time, because usually we see it blasting through the darkness of space.
We’ll reserve judgment until the final thing is ready, which is a little over a year from now, but what we’ve seen so far is thankfully nowhere near the disaster many of us have been dreading. (If it remotely resembled any of Lucas’s last three Star Wars films, then we’d know we were in real trouble.)
The fan reaction around the net so far seems uniformly positive, if not giddy, and however the movie turns out, it’s certain to make more money than you could ever possibly god damn dream of. While we’re not sure if any new Star Wars film can live up to anybody’s expectations in a million years, if it’s even half-way decent…well, it would certainly be far better than what we’ve had to suffer through with the last three movies.
While every Star Wars nut has this date well etched into their memories, for those who don’t live and breathe the saga, look for The Force Awakens on December 18, 2015.
