Universal Pictures has released a new theatrical trailer for its upcoming Immortals film.
The latest version is actually much more plot-heavy than the previous trailer, which was really seemed to focus on CGI effects.
The new trailer also boasts a lot more shots of what the characters actually look like. I’m especially pleased to finally get a look at Isabel Lucas (whom you might remember as Alice from the new Transformers films) as Athena, although the nose-piece of her helmet is a bit off-putting.
Listening to John Hurt do the narration here was eerie.
I’ve been catching up on BBC’s Merlin lately, and so I kept expecting him to suddenly say “The fate of a great kingdom rests on the shoulders of a young boy.”
It appears the focus of the film remains fixed on the fighting – which kind of makes sense.
Like many recent superhuman action flicks, this movie looks like it’s going to be a feast for those who really enjoy good fight choreography and computer generated effects.
In this one, nearly every piece of the set is CGI under the supervision of Director Tarsem Singh who is also currently working on Relativity Media’s still untitled Snow White film.
It’s further interesting to see Cavill here. He’s sort of cheating by going directly from this film to the new Superman adaptation Man of Steel (where he plays titular role). He just has to maintain this clearly high-maintenance body, rather than losing it in the downtime, and having to pick it back up again. Although it’ll definitely be odd to see him play such similar roles so close together.
Immortals comes to theaters November 11 , 2011.
