The second installment of the first adventure of Inspector Spacetime – though that’s not the official title of the show – is available now.
The Project, dubbed Untitled Web Series About a Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time, debuted last week, and the first five-minute episodes are clever, and clearly come from place of love for Doctor Who, rather than one of mockery. Everything from the BTV logo/voice-over to the opening credits to the special effects and dialogue, it all works well as a parody
The first episode saw the protagonists, The Inspector and his companion, Piper, arrive on a deceptively familiar world called Second New Old Earth VII, where they quickly vanquish some Circuit-chaps. The adventure continues herein:
Not much happens here other than a grammar argument, and the momentum is not quite as compelling as the first episode, but still, we’re going somewhere extraordinary.
The production values here are extraordinary, and it’s made more amazing considering that the whole thing was funded by fans through a KickStarter campaign.
If you’re not yet familiar, Inspector Spacetime began as a background show appearing on the NBC sitcom community. Clearly a Doctor Who parody, The characters on the show are Inspector Spacetime fans. They watch the show, have the lunchbox, and next season are even going to an Inspector Spacetime convention.
This web-series is produced by Travis Richley, the actor who was hired by the Community showrunners to play The Inspector on the show-within-a-show. He has no rights to the Inspector Spacetime name, however, thus the ridiculous title.
More episodes will arrive weekly on Richley’s YouTube channel.
