BBC One has released a teaser and synopsis for the upcoming season premiere of Doctor Who.
Titled The Asylum of the Daleks, the episode sees the return of the Doctor’s most infamous foes, but this is clearly not the only challenge, as his companions are on the rocks with one another.
The teaser is super short, and contains no real spoilers, so feel safe clicking play:
Ominous, and some classic dramatic faces from the major characters. Chanting is always a good way to build tension.
The official synopsis seems to contain some spoilers, though nothing we haven’t already learned from previous official releases:
Kidnapped by his oldest foe, the Doctor is forced on an impossible mission – to a place even the Daleks are too terrified to enter… the Asylum. A planetary prison confining the most terrifying and insane of their kind, the Doctor and the Ponds must find an escape route. But with Amy and Rory’s relationship in meltdown, and an army of mad Daleks closing in, it is up to the Doctor to save their lives, as well as the Pond’s marriage.
In addition, we’ve got this great interview sequence from the folks over at Digital Spy who managed to catach up with the cast and crew to discuss episode 5, The Angels Take Manhattan. As you may recall, this particular episode was previously revealed as the final hour for the Doctor’s current companions, and includes the introduction of the show’s new co-star Jenna-Louise Coleman, who will play the new companion starting with this season’s holiday special.
There are a lot of good lines here, and exposure to the actor’s personalities, and everyone is very careful to keep their answers spoiler free.
If you missed it earlier this month, here is the trailer for the first half of the new season:
