At this point, we should all be surprised there hasn’t been a Star Trek theme park yet. A Star Wars theme park in Disneyland is certainly understandable, same thing with the Avatar land, which will be opening at Disney in 2017, yet somehow we haven’t had a land of Trek until now.
You’ll have to travel to Spain to enjoy it, but Plaza Futura, the Star Trek theme park, will be opening there in 2015. As Giant Freakin Robot tells us, Plaza Futura will be located in Alhama de Murcia, which is about 270 miles southeast of Madrid on the Mediterranean coast.
Plaza Futura will actually be more like a little city with condos, shopping malls, hotels, and of course, the theme park with spaceship rides. (Whoever’s created this theme park, it’s clear they’re trying to give Disneyland a run for the money.)
We’re actually pretty surprised there hasn’t been anything Star Trek related in theme parks yet, and maybe this will be the start of it in other countries, which would be nice. It would definitely be a trip if one day we could go to Disneyland and go from Star Wars land, to Star Trek land, to Avatar land as easily as we can hop, skip and jump from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland.
