Las Vegas (NV) – The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) just announced the two headline acts for the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is scheduled to take place from January 7 – 10, 2010, in Las Vegas: Steve Ballmer and Paul Otellini.
The CEA scored once again two of the most successful industry executives to speak at its annual tradeshow. Steve Ballmer will open the 2010 CES on January 6 at 6:30 pm local time in the Hilton Center. Otellini will appear on the same stage on January 7 at 4:30 pm.
Ballmer opened the tradeshow for the first time in 2009, succeeding Bill Gates, who had opened CES in 1998 and from 2000 to 2008. Ballmer delivered an entertaining keynote in 2009 and we are looking forward to another passionate speech in 2010. Paul Otellini’s CES speaking history is not so glamorous. We especially remember the 2006 Core Duo introduction and a Paul Otellini who was somewhat among a Danny DeVito who accepted private phone calls from his wife on stage and a Tom Hanks who could have cared less about what Intel executives had to say.
For 2010, we wonder whether Intel tries again to cuddle with Hollywood or leave the entertainment industry alone and focus instead on its own technology, which will certainly include a major pitch the company’s SoC for smart TVs and set top boxes.
