Some peace breaks out in plasma patent wars

Japanese firm Hitachi and Korean company LG Electronics have agreed to bury the hatchet and settled their differences over a number of technology lawsuits.

Hitachi started the patent war in 2007 over alleged patent infringments relating to plasma TVs, car audio, navigation systems and computers.

LG Electronics retaliated by counter suing Hitachi, according to nikkei.net. Now, the two have agreed to cross license their technology on a number of different fronts, although details of the settlement are unavailable.

The two companies’ lips are sealed.

There are so many patent battles going on between Japanese and South Korean companies that it’s hard to keep up. They nearly always result in cross licensing and a secret deal.

The lawyers in these cases, as usual, coin it.
