After going private some two years ago, Dell is planning to announce the next big step, its merger with storage giant EMC.
Seeing the decline of PC sales, Michael Dell (founder and CEO of Dell Inc.) teamed up with the investors from SilverLake to privatise Dell Inc., making it easier for the company to adapt to the rapidly changing tech market.
The announced acquisition of EMC, a digital storage specialist and its cloud software firm VMware, combined with Dell’s hardware experience, could “create one of the biggest providers of enterprise computing products.” says Bloomberg.
The deal is estimated to be worth between $50-$65 billion.
