How many of you out there tried to solve the Rubik’s Cube back in the eighties? How many of you got completely frustrated and gave up? And how many of you cheated by peeling off the stickers and putting them in the right places?
I’ll admit I’m one of those people who could not master the Rubik’s Cube, and as Yahoo Tech tells us, a Lego Robot called the Cubestormer 3 was able to solve the Rubik’s Cube in 3.253 seconds.
The Cubestormer was shown off at the Big Bang Fair in Birmingham England, and it is indeed built with Legos, but it also has a Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone, and an ARM chip in the robot’s brain. The robot has four hands to twist the Rubik’s Cube, giving it a distinct advantage over us two-armed humans.
The Cubestormer was made by David Gilday, an engineer for ARM, and Mike Dobson, an engineer for Securi-Plex security systems. Who knows what else these guys could come up with, but it’s truly remarkable to see what people can do with Legos these days.
