With the new RoboCop hitting theaters, Michael Keaton’s been doing a lot of press lately because he has a featured role in the film. It’s good to see him back, because we’re big fans of him over at TGD, and we definitely missed him on the big screen.
Keaton recently had fun reminiscing about being in the hard rubber Batman suit, which set the template for the modern superhero costume, and the subject of Beetlejuice 2 of course came up. It’s been rumored for quite some time that another Beetle movie could one day come to pass, and like another Bill and Ted film, we’d definitely welcome it.
As Cinema Blend tells us, Tim Burton entered “talks,” as they say in the biz, last year about potentially doing another Beetlejuice movie, but as we all know by now, it can take a long time for a movie to get out of development, if it ever does. Keaton also just told Blend and MTV that he’s also been in talks as well.
“I’ve e-mailed Tim a couple of times,” Keaton said. “Talked to the writer a couple of times, but [it’s] all really, really preliminary stuff. I always said that’s the one thing I’d like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another…if he’s in, it’s going to be hard not to be in.”
So will any of this come together? Who knows, but it would certainly be fun to see Beetlejuice back with Burton steering the ship.
