Samsung has introduced a 1TB mSATA solid state drive (SSD) that weighs in at a scant 8.5 grams and measures approximately 3.85mm (0.15 inches) thick.
As Liliputing’s Brad Linder notes, the uber-mini drive, which is packed with storage space, can fit into places a normal laptop drive can’t go, such as tablets and ultrabooks.
“The small size also lets you use the drive as a secondary storage device if your laptop has a 2.5 inch drive bay and an open mSATA slot,” he explained.
Although Samsung’s latest SSD is quite small, the device is capable of achieving sequential read/write speeds of 540 MB/s and 520MB/s, respectively.
Samsung’s 1TB SSD drive will launch later this month, along with 120GB, 250GB and 500GB models.
