Being Madonna means you can do pretty much whatever you want, we got that. But it’s great to see that even the biggest stars in the world have to follow some rules, and the news spread all over the world that Madonna was kicked out of a movie screening at the Alamo Drafthouse for texting.
Whenever I go to revival screenings, I often see signs on the wall that clearly state no texting, turn your cellphones off, or else. Of course, when you’re a celebrity, you’re usually of the opinion the rules don’t apply to you, and it’s remarkable that the Alamo Drafthouse thankfully enforces this rule, no matter who you are, or who you think you are.
As you can guess, Madonna wasn’t happy about this, and she yelled, “It’s for business…ENSLAVER!” (This happened during the movie 12 Years a Slave.) Deadline tells us that Madonna is now banned for life from the Drafthouse because she refused to stop texting, although who knows if this can really be enforced.
The CEO of the Drafthouse has tweeted that if she apologizes, Madonna can come back. “It’s been my long stated position that it’s inappropriate in any movie, let alone in a premiere type setting – and especially from someone in the business,” he added.
So remember, no texting during the movie. If Madonna can get thrown out on her ear for doing so, so can you.
