Hewlett Packard has debuted an Android-powered (Jelly Bean) 10.1″ laptop/tablet hybrid powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 4 SoC clocked at 1.8GHz.
Dubbed the SlateBook x2, the $480 device features 2GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM, front and back video cams, a 10.1″ diagonal WUXGA LED-backlit touchscreen display (1920×1200), 1x USB 2.0 on base, 1x HDMI on base and 1x headphone-out/microphone-in combo jack and a 16GB SATA solid-state drive (SSD).
Additional specs include WiFi and Bluetooth, a magnetic docking mechanism to switch from tablet to laptop mode and a full-size keyboard.
As CNET’s Brooke Crother’s notes, HP has been selling a similar model dubbed the Envy x2 ($649) – an 11.6-inch device running Windows 8 on top of an Intel Atom processor.
