We all know by now that the original Star Wars trio of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are returning to the next movie in the series, which is currently due for release in 2015.
It’s amazing to think that Star Wars has been around for so long that the original three will be parents in the new movie, and that Ford is already in his seventies.
There are some secrets you just can’t keep, and Hamill, Ford, and Fisher have all more or less confirmed that they will indeed be back for the JJ Abrams helmed Star Wars. At first Fisher said it was true, then claimed she was joking, but now Giant Freakin Robot tells us she spoke openly about Star Wars at the Calgary Comics Expo, and at this point why try to deny the originals are “in talks,” as they say in the biz, to return.
As Fisher told the audience, “I like being bought by Disney, because they never wanted to buy me before. I’m glad they are doing a new movie because they are sending a trainer to my house so I can get in really good shape.” As for whether she’ll sport the Return of the Jedi bikini again, Fisher wouldn’t say, but you definitely have to be in good shape to be in a big blockbuster, bikini or not.
As the Calgary Herald reports, Fisher joked about hugging Chewbacca, kissing Harrison Ford, and killing Jabba the Hut.
“Hugging is good no matter what part of the galaxy you are in,” Fisher quipped. “I recommend it with wookies and without.” Then she said, “Harrison doesn’t like screen kissing. Not so great onscreen. But we were playing spin-the-bottle and he was better.”
As far as killing Jabba the Hut, “I loved doing that. They ridiculously asked me if I wanted a stunt double to kill Jabba the Hut. Can you imagine? I got to saw that neck off, it was really, really fun and one of the highlights of my career.” Funny enough, Fisher didn’t make any jokes about her danish hair-do, and if she’ll be wearing it again, but maybe that’s for another fan convention.
We’re hoping that coming back to the Star Wars universe will also be another career highlight for Fisher, where she will finally be coming full circle to the saga that made her a star. Again, some secrets you just can’t keep hidden, and Fisher’s part of the OG Star Wars crew, so she definitely has diplomatic immunity in this regard.
