Quo Computers has taken to Kickstarter for its latest project: an Intel Ivy Bridge-powered motherboard capable of running any operating system out-of-the- box.
As VR Zone’s Kenny Doan points out, hackintosh builders will be happy to know that soon there will be a motherboard that will support Apple’s popular desktop OS without any fuss.
Indeed, the Project Q motherboard is equipped with both Firewire 400 and 800, along with Intel-certified Thunderbolt. Quo is also claiming the board’s custom firmware is capable of booting any OS in just under 10 seconds.
As is noted above, Quo has put up its Project Q motherboard on Kickstarter in an effort to raise funds for the project. Early backers can buy the motherboard for $219, while full retail price kicks off at $249.
Pre-packaged rigs are also available from Quo, including a $1,200 Intel Core i7-based system complete with Thunderbolt, HDMI, DVI, Firewire, a 1TB HD, 8GB of RAM, SATA III, USB 3.0 – all housed in a black aluminum “special edition” tower.
