Coby currently offer a number of Android-powered tablets for sale, including the 7-inch MID7065 which we discussed several months ago.
One of the problems that some people might have with the above-mentioned 7-inch tablet is that a $139 price tag isn’t that much cheaper than some of the well known brands on the market.
Well, Coby is back with a new tablet dubbed the MID4331 that offers an incredibly attractive price of only $81. Obviously, for that money, you’ll have to make a few concessions, namely the display is small, measuing in at only 4.3-inches.
Plus, the tablet isn’t Google Certified. Meaning, it can’t access the official Google Play store (at least at this stage), and arrives with the GetJar store installed instead, which will definitely limit your selection of apps.
Your $81 also gets you a ARM-based 1 GHz Allwinner A10 single-core processor paired with 512 MB RAM, 4 GB of integrated storage and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
Additional specs? A 4.3-inch screen with a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels (capacitive multitouch), integrated Wi-Fi, a rear facing two-megapixel camera, a headset port, a USB port for charging, 4GB of integrated storage and a microSD card slot that supports up to 32 GB of additional storage.
Frankly, this little gadget reminds me more of an Android-powered version of the iPod Touch than an actual tablet. Then again, an $81 price point might make this the ideal choice for a parent interested in purchasing a first tablet for their child.
