Doom 3 is one of those classic shooters that many end up playing with the lights on.
The game features a very creepy environment, along with haunting music and zombie-like creatures – almost guaranteeing you’ll end up jumping when they attack.
As you may recall, Doom 3 launched way back in 2004 for PCs and hit the Xbox 360 in 2005. The game boasted fantastic graphics for its time, as was only befitting for the third installment of the wildly popular Doom franchise.
Doom 3 is set on Mars in the year 2145. The premise of the game? The protagonist-player roams a scientific research facility where research is being conducted on biological weapons and teleportation. The teleportation experiments ultimately go awry and open a gateway to a hellish reality.
If you were a fan of the game back in the day, you’ll probably be thrilled to hear that Bethesda Softworks will be issuing a new version of the game titled Doom 3 BFG Edition which we previously discussed when the teaer trailer launched. The special edition of the game – which goes live on October 16 – will be enhanced with updated graphics and includes a new expansion pack dubbed “Resurrection of Evil.”
The Doom 3 BFG is slated to launch for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 – with the game console version priced at $39.99 and the PC version selling for $29.99. The Special Edition package will also include a seven-level bonus story known as “The Lost Mission,” along with copies of the original Doom and Doom 2.
The remastered version of Doom 3 will support 3D, PlayStation trophies, and achievements on the Xbox 360. Unfortunately, the game seems to have been dumbed down somewhat with the addition of checkpoints to make the game easier to complete.
