If you’re a big fan of World of Warcraft (WoW), you’ve probably been looking forward to the expansion pack known as Mists of Pandaria.
Of course, you may also be worried that Mists is the last expansion pack for the wildly popular video game franchise. Fortunately, Blizzard assures us there is more to come.
Fan concern over an end to WoW expansion packs may be linked to the fact that Blizzard has moved a number of WoW devs over to a new project. Little is known about the initiative, as it is still tightly under wraps. Yet, we do know it is dubbed Project Titan MMO.
But such fears over WoW winding down aren’t exactly unfounded, as often when devs are moved away from one title to another, it hints development might be slowing or ending on a particular project.
Then again, Blizzard has stated that it still has big plans for World of Warcraft in the years to come, and “multiple expansions” will be offered after Mists debuts. Indeed, Blizzard COO Paul Sams recently confirmed that the fifth expansion for WoW – the successor to Mists of Pandaria – is in the early stages of development.
I think we all know that as long as WoW generates huge profits and user interest the company will continue new expansion pack development. Blizzard is also rumored to be pitching the sixth expansion pack already, which is several years away. Interestingly, Blizzard has also admitted that the MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic was in part to blame for defecting WoW subscribers. The next expansion pack is an effort to bring some of the players back. If you’re unfamiliar with the Mists of Pandaria expansion, check out the video above for a quick preview.
