Early adopters of the Galaxy Nexus can now rid their phone of an annoying glitch that erratically muted the device at random times.
I’s not exactly a crippling bug, but it is certainly enough to cause headaches. Users have been complaining about not being able to listen to their music, or worse, their phone being silent when it should be ringing a morning alarm.
Google assured users it was able to isolate the problem and a fix would be coming soon, but so far nothing official has been released.
However, Modaco.com is now offering a download that it says is based on the official patch – which is still officially in testing phase right now.
The download comes with a warning that it is not official and users should access it at their own risk.
“In order to flash this boot image, you need your bootloader to be unlocked at this time (use ‘./fastboot-windows oem unlock’ (or the appropriate version for your machine, included in the download). Note that the OEM unlock sequence wipes your device,” the forum post explains.
The glitch is a detractor from what was supposed to be the most glorious Android phone to date, and the most recent one that was partially developed by Google.
But it isn’t enough of an issue to cause highly decreased sales. The Galaxy Nexus will most likely continue to be the standard that is used for Android 4.0.
