Proving yet again that he speaks eloquently all the time…
President Obama said one of the things he was looking forward to when entering the Oval Office wasn’t necessarily the responsibility of being in charge of the most important country on the planet, but rather, “I always thought I was gonna have, like, really cool phones and stuff.”
That was a direct quote from a fundraiser in Chicago, according to the Sun Times. Obama expressed frustration during what was obviously a very important discussion about technology, saying, “We can’t get our phones [in the White House] to work.”
Using his authoritative tone, he added, “Come on, guys. I’m the president of the United States! Where’s the fancy buttons and stuff and the big screen comes up? It doesn’t happen.”
Obama does have a point that technology used in government offices is generally “horrible,” as he put it, as private sector companies are usually much further ahead of the curve.
Obama has been championing the telecommunications industry to expand and improve its tech. During his most recent State of the Union address, he said the expansion of 4G mobile networks, along with other advancements like high-speed rail, could be as important as the country’s response to Russia’s launch of Sputnik.
