The man who developed Netscape has put his money behind a company building a new net browser.
Mark Andreessen, according to a report in the New York Times, is backing a startup called RockMelt with some of his former colleagues involved in developing the browser.
That will bring an interesting twist in the current browser wars, already getting a little crowded with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera.
While Andreessen would not disclose what features in the browser would make it shine compared to the competition, he told the Times that building a browser from scratch allowed you to introduce many different features and functionality.
RockMelt was founded by Tim Howes and Eric Vishria – both have worked with Andreessen before. You can find the report here .
